Liberator Bench Comes Up Big in 6-1 Victory

The Liberators were missing three starters this evening, but that did not let that slow them down as they defeated Rogersville by a 6-1 margin. Reserve forward Branden Roberts got the Liberators on the board early in the game with an assist from Bradely Stillwagon. Reserve Midfielder Auggie Newberry then scored his first and second varsity goals soon after to give the Liberators a quick 3-0 lead. Bolivar would finish up the rest of their scoring for the evening in the first half with all-staters Toad Slagle (asst. Bradley Stillwagaon), Bradley Stillwagon (asst. Josh Condren), and Matt Magana putting in goals for the team. The Liberators would surrender a goal in the second half when Bradley Stillwagon was taken down in the midfield (no call….should have been) and the ball was cleared down the middle of the field. Toad was out of his sweeper position making a overlap run (while Brad was taken out and lost the ball) which left the middle of the field open for a 1 on 1 break-away with the keeper. Goalkeeper Sam Wall made a great play on the ball, but a nice shot by the Rogersville player prevented the shut-out. The Liberators improve to 10-1 on the season.
Congrats guys on another win. Now we must get prepared for the always difficult Willard Tournament.

In Jv action, the Liberators beat Rogersville by a 1-0 margin. Alex Neal scored the lone goal in the second half. Conner Stillwagon with the shut-out in goal. Bolivar jv is now 4-1-1. Congrats guys on great win against the only team to beat you this year!

Liberators Win Championship, Improve to 9-1

The Liberators were able to avenge their only defeat on the season so far by beating the Warrensburg Tigers 3-0 in the Liberator Classic Championship game. The Liberators knew they would have to bring their A game in order to beat our great long time rivals from the north. Warrensburg came in with a 8-1-2 record and have two of the top players in the state with forward Shane Luehrs and goalie Isreal Baeza. Bolivar would get on the board in the 30th minute when sophomore Mitchell Waters recieved a pass down the line from Senior Toad Slagle. Mitchell beat his outside mid defender, then beat two other defenders and fired a shot past a diving keeper into the far post side net. Warrensburg would not let down and would keep the pressure on the Liberator defense, but the defense was would not be denied on this night. The game would go back and forth for a long period of time, with each team taking turns with the momentum. The Liberators would deflate the Tigers in the 76th minute when senior Bradley Stillwagon won the ball on a Tiger goal kick at midfield, dribbled to space, past a defender, and chiped it over and by a hard charging Baeza to get the insurance goal. One minute later, junior Matt Magana would really seal the deal with a similiar type play (assisted by Branden Roberts). Senior Sam Wall led the Liberators to their sixth shutout and had five saves. The benches from both teams would finish up the last few minutes and stoppage time. Bolivar improves to 9-1 while Warrensburg drops to 8-2-2. Congratulations to both teams on another classic dual. hamptonMagana goalStillwagon vs. HardenTinashdefendersThe Bolivar Liberators came away with a 6-1 dominating performance over conference and district opponent Marshfield tonight. Bolivar would take control of the game early, possess well, and then in the 30th minute Junior Matt Magana made a pass from the top of the box to fellow forward Tinash Zungura who was on an angled run to the goal. Marshfeild would get a goal late. The goal was credited to Robert Martin after he attempted to clear the ball past a defender and deflected off a knee. The ball went really high and was misjudged by the keeper and another defender and bounced one-time into the upper net. Unlucky for the Liberators on that one. The liberators finished with 23 shots and came very close to finishing a couple of open nets, a couple off the post, and a rare pk miss by Toad (great save keeper).
